Why do we homeschool?

It is God's desire for our family.
I spent a lot of time researching and praying about this before we began (which was about 2        years before our oldest was Kindergarten age).

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:  And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.  Deut. 6:6-7
It brings us closer as a family.
We can incorporate our Christian worldview into everything that we learn.  It is part of our everyday life.

...but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord.  Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you...  1 Peter 3:15
We do not agree with the priorities and worldview of today's public school system.  We do not want our children exposed to ungodliness that masquerades as good.  Public schools teach children false ideas such as evolution, the earth's age as millions of years old, that there is no right and wrong (tolerance) and that homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle choice.

There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.
                                                                Proverbs 14:12

Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.  Lead me in your truth,
and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.  Psalm 25: 4-5
It is legal in our state's public schools for "health clinics" to be established inside school grounds.  These "health care workers" can advise children on birth control and 'safe sex'.  They can dispense birth control items.  Should someone's daughter subsequently become pregnant - these clinic workers can legally take any girl (as young as 12 years of age) to an abortion clinic, have the procedure performed and return her to school grounds - all without the parent's consent or knowledge.  Should there be any health issues following this procedure, the parent has no legal recourse against the health clinic or the school.  Again, this is all protected under the law.
There are many other reasons that parents choose to homeschool.  Today's public schools are not what they used to be.  A good book to read is "The Harsh Truth about Public Schools" by Bruce N. Shortt.
